St. John Youth attended the "Glory on the Grounds United Through Faith Youth Rally" on Sunday, June 6 at St. John Catholic Center in Little Rock. This event was attended by 7-12 graders and was the first statewide, in-person event hosted by the Catholic Youth Ministry Office since the COVID-19 pandemic began in early 2020.
Keynote speaker was Steve Angrisano, a nationally known Catholic musician, songwriter and storyteller. Food trucks were available for lunch and priests were on hand to offer the sacrament of Reconciliation. Other activities included prayer, skits, and Eucharistic procession & adoration. Father Jeff Hebert, who will become diocesan vocations director on June 15, celebrated Mass. He will now also serve as chaplain for youth and campus ministry. The event concluded with the installation of the 2021-22 YAC and farewell to outgoing seniors.
Our own, Carson Lee, was inducted into the 2021-2022 Diocese of Little Rock Youth Advisory Council (YAC)!
Adult supervisors in attendance were Mary Gardner (Youth Group Director), Norma Cano (Parish Accounting), Ann Lee (Catechist), & Lary Fox (Acolyte/deacon candidate).
Many #sjccr_youth attended the event. James Freeman (our Seminarian studying at the House of Formation in Little Rock) was able to get to see and talk with youth from back home, and even got to get a picture with some of his parish family.
Many Diocesan seminarians were present at the rally, getting to interact with students from all across the state (and of course promote the consideration of a vocation to Holy Orders and religious life).
We want to thank all those at our parish who helped our youth attend this event including parents, youth ministry volunteers and the youth themselves. We give a special thanks to the Youth Ministry department at the Diocese and the YAC!
